Senior Project Management Consultants

 

Position Summary

Long International is seeking senior consultants to work on engagements concerning the analysis of contractor and owner performance on EPC and EPCM mega-projects involving oil refinery, petrochemical, chemical, offshore oil & gas, Gas-to-Liquids (GTL), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Natural Gas Liquids (NGL), process plant, mining, pipeline, and other industrial projects in the United States and internationally. Ideally, these consulting positions will be located in the Houston, TX or Denver, CO areas, but other geographic areas in the United States and Canada will be considered.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Candidates should possess a minimum of 20 years of experience in several of the following project types: major U.S. and international oil refining, petrochemical, chemical, offshore oil & gas, pipeline, LNG, GTL, NGL, and mining projects, with verifiable experience in a Project Manager/Project Director role working for a major EPC/EPCM contractor or owner involving such projects.

 

Must be a successful team leader with the ability to deliver expert services and project team leadership in all facets of project assessments, contract dispute analysis and resolution, litigation, arbitration, mediation support, and expert testimony.

 

Knowledge and experience should include many of the following disciplines: process flow diagram/P&ID development, equipment design, overall facility design, project management, project engineering, procurement of materials and equipment, construction management, conceptual development, estimating of project costs, risk analyses, scheduling, contract administration, standard of care, and FEL and FEED preparation.

 

Ability to assess an EPC/EPCM contractor's cost, schedule, technical, and project management performance and standard of care on the execution of multibillion-dollar projects. Provide technical guidance and expert analysis on behalf of the owner as to the viability of potential claims against the contractor for gross negligence, breach of the standard of care, and responsibility for cost overruns and schedule delays, as well as preparation/evaluation of claims on behalf of the contractor made against the owner regarding disputed change orders and responsibility for schedule delays and cost overruns.

 

Periodic international travel may also be required depending on the location of a project assignment.

 

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited college/university, 20+ years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience within the engineering and construction, and/or construction consulting industry.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Experience that demonstrates exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills on large engineering and construction projects concerning but not limited to engineering, engineering management, project management, procurement, construction management, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of and experience with schedule delay and quantum/damages analysis methodologies and principles.
  • Identification and analysis of the root causes of engineering and construction performance problems, schedule delays, and cost overruns.
  • Excellent oral and written skills for communication with a wide variety of internal and external parties. Samples of written work products will be required.
  • Prior testimony experience is a major plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other industry-related software. Ability to utilize P6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software is a plus.
