Long International personnel have been involved in numerous claims and project consulting assignments associated with numerous heavy civil projects, including dams; earthmoving, concrete, utilities, and heavy civil construction; earthwork and underground utilities; landfills; municipal parks; and reclamation and remediation projects.

Heavy Civil
Dams
Canada Prepared detailed as-planned and as-built schedule analyses for the contractor on a dam project. Participated in negotiations between the contractor and the Province of Alberta.
Louisiana Prepared schedule delay and damages analyses and an Expert Report on behalf of the electrical subcontractor on claims against the general contractor on two Corps of Engineers lock and dam projects on the Red River.
New Mexico Prepared a detailed as-planned and as-built schedule analyses for the contractor on an earth-filled dam project in New Mexico. Participated in negotiations between the contractor and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation that resulted in a $55 million settlement for the contractor.
South Carolina Prepared entitlement and damage analyses for a hydroelectric pumped storage facility. Performed financial analyses and wrote Expert Reports.
Earthmoving, Concrete, Utilities, and Heavy Civil Construction
Nevada Prepared a $30 million claim for an international construction company on a heavy civil construction project.
Earthwork and Underground Utilities
Colorado Performed damages and schedule analyses for a contractor in a $1.3 million dispute with its earthwork and utilities subcontractor. Submitted an Expert Report which asserted $300,000 in damages and defended a $1 million counterclaim. Prepared all damages and schedule analyses and provided testimony in both deposition and arbitration. The contractor received a favorable award.
Landfill
California As a neutral, third-party, analyzed and evaluated a contractor’s claim relative to entitlement, costs, and compensable damages associated with the completion of a landfill remediation project. Facilitated settlement and the successful resolution of the claim.
Municipal Park Project
Florida Defended an owner from a $4.1 million alleged delay and disruption damages claim by a general contractor for the construction of a municipal park project. Evaluated the contractor’s entitlement to costs and delays that the contractor purported to be based on outstanding change orders and unresolved issues related to potential change for conditions and impact. Based on the findings, the contractor’s claims were grossly overstated and unsupported for which the owner received a favorable settlement.
Reclamation Project
Florida Prepared a preliminary damage analysis for an electrical subcontractor on the South Cross Bayou Water Reclamation Project in Pinellas County. Designated as an expert witness on the electrical subcontractor’s loss of productivity and extended overhead damages. Claim settled in negotiations after preparation of an Expert Report.
Remediation Project
Florida Reviewed and analyzed a contractor’s claim for scope changes and differing conditions encountered on branch creek remediation project.

Underground
Fiber Optic Underground Cable Systems
Arkansas Provided arbitration support and expert witness testimony (at deposition), including an analysis of damages for claim issues related to the installation of an underground fiber optics network.
United Kingdom Managed all quantity surveying services and oversight for numerous projects and clients including Eurobell, Deutsche Telecom, English Heritage, English China Clays, and Flag Atlantic (USA) for a new cable landing station in Land's End.
Tunnels
California On behalf of the contractor, analyzed schedule delays in a $70 million dispute resulting from the construction of subway tunnels which were delayed by over two years. Responsible for identifying and apportioning delays.
California Performed quality control and reasonableness review of a schedule delay analysis for a tunnel-boring contract on the Los Angeles metro subway project.
California Performed schedule delay analysis, prepared an Expert Report, and presented testimony at a DRB hearing on behalf of the general contractor in a claim for a compensable time extension and related damages against the owner on a tunneling project.
Georgia Analyzed a pipe tunneling contractor’s claim for extended equipment cost and prepared evaluation and cost related damages on a delay and disruption claim.
Minnesota On behalf of the contractor, analyzed damages to rebut a $52 million claim from the owner on a large wastewater tunnel. Audited and reconciled $166 million in actual costs versus an after the fact estimate of $114 million.
